Major shareholder of ÖKOTEC reports on fiscal year 2021
Veolia Germany publishes Sustainability Report
In May of this year, Veolia Germany published its Sustainability Report 2021, providing comprehensive information on its goals and measures that contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the progress made to date.
This includes amongst others the consistent reduction of GHG emissions (1,604,000 t CO2 equivalents were saved in 2021 through emission reduction measures). Furthermore, an impact reduction on nature and biodiversity at sensitive sites was achieved. Sensitive sites are characterized by their proximity to nature reserves and the presence of protected species.
As a company of the Veolia Group, ÖKOTEC also makes a positive contribution to a sustainable development, especially in the area of innovation for industrial and commercial companies. By using the EnEffCo® software, energy efficiency and conservation potentials can be identified through the digitalization of the energy management. The software developed by ÖKOTEC is continuously enhanced, among others, through the research and development projects “Food Pinch” with RWTH Aachen University and “KI4ETA” with TU Darmstadt. The sustainability report also highlights other ÖKOTEC projects that advance the topics of energy efficiency and climate protection in industry, such as the climate protection campaign with the Bundesvereinigung der Ernährungsindustrie e. V. (BVE) and the support of 10 networks as part of the Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks initiative.
Veolia Deutschland GmbH publishes its Sustainability Report annually in accordance with the criteria of the Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitskodex (DNK) and in line with the principles of the Global Reporting Initiative on a voluntary basis, in addition to the mandatory Sustainability Report of the Veolia Group as a whole.
