Climate protection campaign for the food industry launches

Climate protection campaign for the food industry

The Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE) will launch the BVE Climate Protection Campaign together with ÖKOTEC and other partners on Wednesday, 04 November 2020 (16:00).

In the approximately one-hour live broadcast, BVE will present the campaign as a PlusPlus principle and will give starting points for optimizing climate-relevant processes. Likewise, Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze will welcome in the form of a video message.

The PlusPlus principle: The first climate protection campaign of industry

The food industry is taking a pioneering role with the BVE climate protection campaign, as this is the first information campaign on climate protection aimed at an industrial sector. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) over a period of 3 years.

Climate protection is the central challenge of our time and a prerequisite for the prosperity of future generations. Germany has set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared with 1990 levels. The aim is to achieve an 80 to 95% reduction by 2050.

The BVE climate protection campaign supports companies in the food industry with a comprehensive range of information and practical tools for climate protection.

Expertise from ÖKOTEC: From practice for practice

The experts of ÖKOTEC develop and supervise numerous contents within the campaign. The spectrum of topics ranges from technical measures regarding energy efficiency and renewable energies to the compensation of unavoidable CO2 emissions. Permanent features of the content include methods and standards of CO2 balancing for products and companies, monitoring and the organization of the continuous improvement process.

With our many years of experience in the food industry, we know exactly where to start with companies to assess We are happy to share this knowledge.

“Because of many years of experience in the food industry, we know exactly where to start with companies in order to leverage climate protection potential. We are happy to share this knowledge.”

Webinars, online checklists, investment evaluation and much more.

Online checklists and illustrative training material have been compiled for the individual topics to help build up the skills of those responsible in the companies. For example, even non-business people can use a self-developed benefit calculator to carry out holistic investment assessments with net present value, interest and payback periods for energy efficiency measures. The special highlight: Usable subsidies are automatically identified and taken into account from the outset in the investment assessment.
