Free consulting and networking services for Berlin companies
The Coordination Office for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection in Business (KEK) has been advising, mediating and networking Berlin companies on the topics of energy efficiency and climate protection since 2022. In addition to the existing services, the KEK is now providing support with new services on circular economy.
How can companies conserve natural resources and protect the climate? What are the benefits for companies? How does the circular economy work and what needs to be considered when designing environmentally friendly products?
The KEK, a partnership-based support program of the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and the Berlin Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment, provides assistance with questions such as these.
“Our goal is clear: Berlin should become climate-neutral before 2045. An important factor here is the sustainable transformation of our economy. Over the past two years, the CEC has organized a total of 275 business consultations and 13 workshops and information events in Berlin. We are now expanding this successful work. The result is a one-stop agency that pools expertise on the topics of the circular economy, energy efficiency and climate protection and provides our companies with a broad range of expertise in an advisory capacity.”

As a central point of contact for Berlin companies, KEK’s range of services includes free basic advice on general information relating to operational energy efficiency, resource conservation, the circular economy and climate protection. In addition, individual SME detailed consultations and company workshops as well as exchange and networking opportunities..
In the basic consultation, companies receive general information about operational energy efficiency, resource conservation, the circular economy and climate protection – also in combination with current funding opportunities.
During an individual site visit, companies receive specific tips and ideas for saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Existing ideas can also be concretised or the profitability of measures assessed.
In individual workshops on energy efficiency, resource conservation or greenhouse gas balancing, companies receive a targeted overview of a coordinated key topic.
Through the KEK, stakeholders from companies can network and exchange ideas both within and across sectors. Partners are brought together for joint projects at targeted events.

The KEK is being implemented by the project partners VDI/VDE + Innovation und Technik GmbH, ÖKOTEC Energiemanagement GmbH and Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH (German).

The guide explains the steps required to develop a funded concept for climate neutrality and has been published by ÖKOTEC, GUTcert and the German Business Initiative for Energy Efficiency e.V. (DENEFF).

In cooperation with GUTcert and the registered organization German Corporate Initiative Energy Efficiency (DENEFF), ÖKOTEC publishes a guide that supports companies on their way to climate neutrality.
