Climate protection and energy efficiency networks
Networks are an important building block in the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency (NAPE) for achieving the German government’s energy and climate protection targets and offer companies a wide range of benefits. ÖKOTEC has initiated and founded over 60 networks since 2004.
Our experience over the last 20 years confirms that by participating in a network, companies achieve the goals they set themselves and the mutual exchange activates them. We transfer this successful concept to the CSRD reporting obligation [1].

In spring 2025, the “CSRD Readiness Network” will be launched by ÖKOTEC and selected specialist partners (sustainability reporting, social affairs and auditing). The aim of the network is to prepare companies subject to reporting requirements for the external audit This is achieved through network meetings with a specialist focus, a moderated exchange of experiences and various support services between the network meetings.
The focus is on a condensed and concentrated examination of the main topics of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), including the parallel topics of strategy, governance, risks and opportunities, parameters and targets, actions and resources.
You can scrutinize what has been implemented and planned in your own company and clarify your questions with experts in the field.
In the first meeting, we will look at the structure of the standards, how the general requirements and sustainability-related information are to be presented in the context of the CSRD, and we will discuss double materiality.
The participants get to know each other, find out where the companies stand in terms of sustainability and the reporting obligation and what the goals and steps are for the coming 12 months.
In-depth focus on the environment with the topics of climate change, climate protection, energy (E1), environmental pollution (E2), water and marine resources (E3), biodiversity & ecosystems (E4), circular economy (E5).
We focus on the greenhouse gas balance, data points to be reported and the necessary steps in line with the 1.5 degree target, such as climate target pathway determination, scenario analysis and action roadmap.
In this meeting, we will look at sustainability-related aspects in relation to our own workforce (S1), workers in the value chain (S2), affected communities (S3), consumers and end users (S4).
We expect to focus on the supply chain and workforce. A vote will be held before the network meeting and we will also take into account the results of the score4more sustainability assessment.
In the last meeting, we combine the requirements from ESRS 1 and 2 and the preparation of reporting for the external audit and communication.
The topic of data management is central to this meeting, as a lot of data from different systems and departments has to be recorded and harmonized. We also take your specific interests into account in order to support you in the final spurt with targeted technical input.

To date, the Non-Financial Reporting Directive has regulated the mandatory reporting of non-financial indicators for selected large companies. The CSRD builds on this. It extends the scope of application and specifies the reporting requirements.
