CO2-footprint in real-time – ÖKOTEC starts R&D project
With “co2realtime”, companies will be able to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and save energy costs in the future. What is particularly innovative about the project is that the CO2 footprint is based on real-time data and is product-specific.
The R&D project, which is funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU), was launched in January 2017 by ÖKOTEC in cooperation with the aluminum manufacturer Hydro (now Speira) and co2online. What is particularly innovative about the project is that the CO2-footprint is based on real-time data and is product-specific. This is because a CO2-footprin for products that takes into account all relevant supply and production processes places new demands on methodological and technical implementation: key figures, plants, processes, infrastructure and products must be systematically linked, made measurable and digitized.
