ÖKOTEC supports lighthouse project
Waste heat utilization in the steel mill – Georgsmarienhütte GmbH
The German Energy Agency’s (dena) “Beacons of CO2 Savings in Industry” project aims to publicize economic energy efficiency potential and proven measures for waste heat avoidance and utilization.
ÖKOTEC supported the lighthouse project at Georgsmarienhütte GmbH with its expertise. The possibilities of waste heat utilization and avoidance were investigated and evaluated, design proposals were submitted and a KfW waste heat concept was prepared. In the project, natural gas, steam and electricity are to be saved by using waste heat in the steel mill, and waste heat is to be transferred to Stadtwerke Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, which will store it and feed it into the city’s district heating network as required.
