DUO PLAST wants to become climate neutral

Climate-friendly production – public subsidies for concepts

DUO PLAST produces climate-friendly at the German Sünna production site

DUO PLAST AG has set out on the ambitious path to climate neutrality. ÖKOTEC is developing a transformation concept, including a roadmap of measures for a climate-friendly production for the stretch film manufacturer. The funding program of the same name “transformation concept” of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) supports the concept development with 50 percent of the investment costs.

DUO PLAST AG – Focus on sustainable stretch films

DUO PLAST AG manufactures stretch films used in the industrial and agricultural sectors, as well as for food packaging.

ÖKOTEC already supported DUO PLAST with its expertise in the lighthouse project of the German Energy Agency. With a holistic energy optimization of the cooling system, DUO PLAST AG will save 575 tons of CO2 per year in their future stretch film production.

Now, DUO PLAST aims to become climate neutral by 2025 for Scope 1 and 2 with its two German production sites in Lauterbach and Sünna, as well as its administrative offices.

“With the transformation concept, we are pioneers in the field of climate neutrality. ÖKOTEC is a competent partner from the funding application to the implementation of measures. ÖKOTEC has proven its technical expertise through many years of cooperation with the DUO PLAST team.”

Detlef Kaase, Managing Director and Executive Board, DUO PLAST AG

Holistic concept

ÖKOTEC supports DUO PLAST in creating the transformation concept: In the first step, our experts create a Corporate Crabon Footprint according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (Scope 1-3) and an energy analysis to determine the current status and reduction potentials. We then agree an emission reduction target with the customer and develop a robust action plan that Duo Plast can use to achieve the goals set. Measures include, for example, increasing energy efficiency at the sites by using waste heat, installing photovoltaic systems, converting gas boilers to heat pumps, and switching to green electricity. In a further step, the integration of the strategy into the company organization will be considered in order to ensure long-term success – the implementation of the transformation concept and greenhouse gas reduction.

With transformation concepts to climate neutrality

The development of a transformation concept is eligible for funding under Module 5 (Transformation Concepts) in the Energy and Resource Efficiency in Industry funding program of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. The creation of a transformation concept is funded with a maximum of €80,000 of the eligible investment costs. The maximum funding rate is 50 percent, or 60 percent for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Do you have any questions? We will be happy to support you in applying for a subsidized transformation concept.
