Cooling tower optimization with EnEffCo®

We successfully completed a pilot project for cooling tower optimization at INEOS in Cologne, Germany. After the pilot was in continuous operation, further cooling tower groups were included. INEOS uses the EnEffCo® module EnEffReg® for system modeling and optimization of energy consumption.

The challenge

With around 26,000 employees at 194 sites, INEOS is one of the world’s largest petrochemical companies. As an energy-intensive company, INEOS is continuously working to reduce its CO2 footprint. At INEOS in Cologne, three cooling tower groups are being optimized in terms of energy efficiency, taking into account the operational framework conditions.

EnEffReg® has helped us to reduce our energy requirements by efficiently planning the use of the cooling towers, thereby significantly cutting our energy costs.
