Advanced performance indicator methodology for energy optimization

Energy Optimization of Complex Plant Systems

Energy optimization of complex plant systems using an advanced performance indicator methodology

Energy consumption is a major cost factor for industrial consumers. The key to improving efficiency lies in the systematic collection and analysis of consumption data. The measurement-data-based key performance indicator methodology for industrial systems has been significantly refined in recent years: New methods for determining influencing parameters, physically based models, and a semi-automated diagnosis of excess consumption now enable more systematic monitoring, diagnosis, and benchmarking of systems—and, for the first time, also allow for the energy optimization of networked systems. This article presents these advancements within the framework of the BMWE-funded collaborative project “Food Pinch.” The following article was published in the journal Energiewirtschaftliche Tagesfragen (in German).

Flexible Wärmeintegration mit der dynamischen Pinch-Analyse

Flexible heat integration with dynamic pinch analysis

The food industry requires a lot of heat and cold. The aim of the Food Pinch research project is to use heat and cold more efficiently and to put waste heat flows to further use. Researchers are developing and testing a dynamic pinch analysis for this purpose.
